The owners, staff and customers of Bairds Bar were as stunned as the rest of the football world to hear the sad news of Big John’s illness.
John is a fan’s favourite for all the right reasons. He was a consistent scorer, especially in the big games, and worked his socks off for the Hoops.
A frequent visitor to the pub, John is a popular guy in Bairds. Tam Carberry recounts that nothing is ever too much trouble for the big man. “He spends ages chatting to the fans, signing autographs and posing for photographs, never refusing and never saying ‘enough’. He’s a fan’s man and a true Celt.”
We wish John well in his recovery.
